history
Kat Vaughan (BA, MBA) founded Globally Minded Works in 2007 after working around Lake Atitlan and helping the Mayan people through education and business. Kat first traveled to Guatemala in 1998, while working as an Associate Relationship Manager with Fair, Isaac. She sponsored a Mayan girl through Common Hope, and eventually moved to Antigua, Guatemala for Spanish immersion classes and volunteering at Common Hope, a child sponsorship program. In 2001, Kat and a group from the Silicon Valley, launched a nonprofit internet cafe in San Pedro La Laguna, on the shores of Lake Atitlan in Guatemala. In 2003, Kat directed a middle school on the shores of Lake Atitlan and in 2006, Kat founded a fair trade business, Globally Minded, now supporting artisans living around the lake. Globally Minded designs jewelry handcrafted by artisans in Guatemala. Globally Minded is a proud member of the Fair Trade Federation and Green America.

Since 1998, Kat's been serving and helping the people of Guatemala through education, business and other charitable projects.

In addition to serving the people of Guatemala, Kat is a Center Director with
